Farm Tour & Design Class

Last winter, when we donated a farm tour/design class to our parish’s annual Pig Out Auction, we never dreamed that such wonderful ladies would ever attend!  This past Monday our new friend Veronica, brought along her sister Mary and two dear friends Doris and Doris to see what this flower farm was all about.  As I emailed Veronica to set up a date and provide information as to what to expect as well as directions, I am sure she thought she was in for a crazy time!  I warned her of the 4 dogs and 3 kids that would great them, holes they may step in and that they would get a real life feeling for what really goes on on a daily basis at our cute farm!  Veronica was so kind and graciously accepted any of our crazy antics.

These 4 wonderful ladies arrived right at 2:00 on the dot!  We proceeded to the garden where they received an extensive tour of our flowers and how they really “over flow”.  Dogs trailed us, photos were taken and Hannah ran around and hid out in the raspberry patch (her favorite spot).  Then, we set them free to cut a whole bucket of flowers of their choosing.  We set up in the garage and I walked them through creating their floral masterpieces.

While we were designing, Mom was in the kitchen preparing the most wonderful dinner.  If you didn’t know it yet…..my Mom is one of the best cooks!  Just about everything she made was grown on our farm!  The menu included:

Chuck Roast (Our grass fed, grain finished delicious beef)

Roasted Red Rosemary Potatoes (from the garden)

Cucumber & Tomato Salad (from the garden)

Homemade Bread with Dipping Oils

Dessert:

Homemade Blueberry Pie (blueberries from our neighbors)

Homemade Banana Cream Pie

Homemade Whipped Cream

These ladies were loving everything and even took home some treats to their husbands!  They were raving over their meal and we so enjoyed our conversation with them.  Each one of these kind women were teachers in some sort of way.  Such kind, giving hearts they have and best of all we get to see 3 of them at church often!  I wish I could see each of them every day!

What a blessing these women were to us and we look forward to getting to know them that much more.  Anyone attending the Pig Out Auction next year better be ready for a bidding war against Veronica.  Something tells me she might be interested!
