Last Friday we had the pleasure of Father Maxwell visiting our building site to bless it.  All of the materials had been delivered and the post holes had been dug.  So we thought this was a great time to have everything blessed, it never hurts to have God on your side!  It was a beautiful blessing, followed by a delicious dinner made by my Mom!  We celebrated with wine and friends.

We pray that everyone who works on this building, works in this building and visits this building is safe and feels the love outpouring from us!

Here are a few photos taken as well as a video of the actual blessing.

We were so happy to have met Kara Durbin, a local photographer based in Prosser, WA.  It was a pleasure working with her to create a rustic and flowy bridal bouquet for the shoot she was creating.  The shoot took place just down the road from our farm at The Estate at Destiny Ridge, most of you probably recognize the name Alexandria Nicole Cellars!  Their vineyard and Estate are amazing and their wine is pretty incredible as well.  Definitely making the drive to Paterson is worth the wine and the view.

We loved Kara and her photography was beautiful and we are looking forward to collaborating with her again in the near future.  Stay tuned for more of her lovely photos and some of our floral work.

Enjoy these photos of flowers and the beauty of Eastern WA.

April 21st was a beautiful spring day for a wedding!  Jennifer and Juan were married at my home parish, Our Lady of Angels Catholic church in Hermiston, OR.  I think our church is one of the most beautiful churches especially for wedding photos (not that I am partial!).

Photos With Jess, did an amazing job as usual capturing their special day, you could definitely see their love for eachother!

Her florals were white, blush and shades of light pink.  The hydrangeas were gorgeous as well as the white anemones that add that little pop!

Please take a moment to enjoy Jessica’s beautiful photography! And congratulations again to this beautiful couple, we wish you the best and prayers for your marriage journey.

Well, we have been talking about this, planning this, fretting over this for over a year now!  What is “this” thing that we are talking about????  It is the building aka “The Farm Store” we will be constructing on our farm and it is going to be pretty epic once it is complete!  Over the past 5 years, we have tried just about everything in our little business.  We felt that was the best way to see what would work best for us and with much guidance from God, we feel like we are narrowing most things down.

Our business has definitely changed over the past 5 years.  What started out as purely doing farmers markets, has now evolved into wholesale sales, designing for weddings & events, and growing our own produce!  We have evaluated and reevaluated our business at the end of each season and we know that we have grown greatly.  We have seen a huge increase in interest for the farm as well as a longing for ourselves to be at the farm more.  We have very much outgrown our workspace, which is Mom and Dad’s garage (not really sure the last time a car was parked in it?).  The floor is permanently stained brown, but there are so many good memories and designs that were created in that room.  We have built a business in that garage and now it is time to expand.  We know we have something very unique here and we wanted to create an equally unique space to design and showcase our farm fresh products!

At first, we thought we would just build a small design studio, but then we talked ourselves into making it bigger and why not showcase everything we do?  We not only grow flowers, we grow vegetables and raise our own beef.  We wanted this new space to function as our workspace but we wanted everyone to see us work and feel a part of it.  Customers will be able to come see the product growing in the field, see it being harvested, then seeing the displays of beautiful flower designs, delicious produce being sold and hey you might just need a steak and some eggs while you are there.  We will host design classes, farm to table dinners and so much more!  We want everyone who comes to visit us, to shop, stay and enjoy the atmosphere and not to mention the beautiful view of the Columbia River and the Blue Mountains.  We want this to be an experience for each person who walks through the door and then leave feeling the need to come back.  This will be our little mercantile where we can grow, create, display and sell everything that comes from our farm and share it all with you!

We hope that this building will provide us a home to create and we can now be at the farm more, which is where we love to be most!  So come visit us, follow us as I blog about the building process (I am sure it won’t always be easy nor pretty, but we have a pretty good sense of humor so we hope that gets us through this!).

The current status of this project is photographed below.  Dad has been running the CAT and John Deere loader (Luke does not approve of the John Deere part, but he says it’s ok for now), he has been leveling for the foundation.  The building will drop in the next couple of weeks so we will update you once that happens.

Well, please be thinking of us and say a few prayers.  We have a bit of an idea for the finish date, crossing our fingers for June but telling ourselves July maybe even August.  We hope to have a Grand Opening as well, this all sounds grand until the season starts and our lives are engulfed in flowers and everything else!

Thank you so much, here is to new adventures!

Katie

October 1st, 2016 was a very busy and exciting weekend for us on the farm!  We had our Fall Fling scheduled for that Sunday so we were running around like crazy getting the farm all dolled up and everything in its place….or at least close to its place, well lets say some things honestly never ended up in their places!  I had also scheduled 3 fantastic weddings as well!

This wedding in particular was for the Gillies.  Creams, greens and a bit of burgundy was the palette and the details were captured so perfectly!  In particular, the boutonnieres were created in shot gun shells and take a look at this ring shot on one of our Cafe au Lait dahlias!

Love, balloons, and the scents of flowers and sweets were in the air yesterday!

Mom and I celebrated Valentine’s Day in Pendleton, OR yesterday and it was fabulous!  The day was spent at John Loves June Event Rentals & Design, Dawn’s studio on Main Street.  We were a part of Dawn’s first Pop Up Shop and I am pretty sure there will be many more like this one!

We created hand tie bouquets, and custom designed vase arrangements as each customer got the joy to visit with us and watch us create something beautiful for their loved one!  We were not the only ones creating at this Pop up……if you have not met Amber, owner of Up Balloon Boutique, well you should!  She was custom creating her own balloon creations!  Her window display was an amazing cherry blossom tree, she had so many selections, the options were endless.  My kids received their Valentine’s gifts a day late, but they were the best yet thanks to Amber!  They received giant clear balloons filled with confetti, these have provided hours of entertainment for sure!  Last but not least…..Chelsea, owner of Frosted Cupcake Shop in Walla Walla had her famous macaroons & cupcakes for sale…..lets just say they did not last long!

If this all sounds great to you……well you will just have to attend our next Pop Up Shop coming Friday May 12th!  We will have flowers, balloons and sweet treats for Mother’s Day!  Please stay tuned for more information coming up!

Enjoy all of these beautiful photos taken by Dawn Alderman herself……she is one talented lady! Thank you again for hosting such a lovely event Dawn!

This past November, we had the honor of doing the florals for Katie & Levi’s wedding.  Katie is a Prosser girl, I still picture her as a cute little girl, and now she is married!  Oh, and we share the same name which is pretty neat!  She was a beautiful bride and you could definitely see the love she and Levi shared throughout these photos.

I loved the Fall colors she chose, we were still cutting dahlias, mums, scabiosa and eucalyptus from our fields mid November, which is a record.  We supplemented our flowers with berries, roses, peonies, carnations and many more blooms.  The tables were decorated with so many candles and many of our little bud vases with various blooms.  If I had been married in the Fall, I would have fallen in love with Katie’s flowers!

The wedding took place at the Bethel church in Prosser and reception was in Levi’s family’s hop warehouse.  Katie and her team did an amazing job transforming everything into a warm, inviting, and beautifully designed space!  They were able to save and dry hops from this past Fall, I love when couples can incorporate the wonderful things they raise into their ceremony!  The cake was created by Frost Me Sweet and our friends The Snappy Camper were there!  Terra Nyce Photography did an amazing job capturing all of these details.

A few months ago, we had the opportunity to be a part of a Fall stylized shoot.  This was our first and it took place a few days after Thanksgiving….we were actually able to cut from our flower fields.  I gathered garden roses, deep burgundy scabiosa, eucalyptus, scented geranium, rosemary and few other tidbits!  We purchased a few other florals to enhance our designs.

Trixie Ortiz, owner of YOUnique Events & Design in Hermiston, OR was the stylist who kindly asked us to take part.  Thank you for organizing such a wonderful group of creatives!  This was styled at the Cold Springs National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon.  We are so lucky to live in such a diverse region that provides endless opportunity to create beauty with our natural surroundings. We created a bridal bouquet and large centerpiece for the farm table.  The beautiful chairs, bench and table were from John Loves June Events & Rentals….if you are looking for dishes, furniture, letterpress etc. Dawn Alderman has got you covered!

The cake was created by Moorebaby Cakes, it was much too gorgeous to eat!  The beautiful makeup complete by Dez Beauty Xo.

Last but not least, the amazing photography was done by Ashley Seibel Photography.  Her work includes Wedding and Senior photography, definitely visit her website for more of her art!

This shoot was also just featured on Cake and Lace Blog, go visit their site for more of Ashley’s photos!

A few photos from the many Ashley provided!

Well hello there!  As most of you know, we have a bit of snow……more like a foot which is very uncommon for this area.  The last time I remember this much snow, I believe i was 5 years old and it was 1988.  This brings back a funny memory of my mom putting pig tails in my hair, which I seriously hated!!!  When I kept protesting, she threatened to cut my hair short, so she won that time!  After the battle on my hair, we went sledding on the big hill in Paterson and the whole town was there it seemed, I miss the old days where you really felt the feeling of community!  Our goal is to build that sense of community back up in Paterson, I think we all get a little lost in our busy lives, technology and forget that we have neighbors and that we need to gather!

So…..we will be stocking up our calendar with lots of events this year and we hope all of our Paterson neighbors and even neighbors that are not so near, can join in on the fun and get creative right along with us!  We also enjoy giving back to our community so we will be brainstorming some ways to do so, stay tuned!

Now to get back to the title of this blog….Foraged Wreath Workshop!  We are planning way ahead on this one.  This past December, our good friend Dawn, the talented owner of John Loves June Event Rentals & Design hosted a wreath workshop for creatives and it was so great creating evergreen, eucalyptus and curly willow wreaths with new friends.  We all traveled to Dawn’s studio in Pendleton, OR.  Ladies drove from La Grande, Walla Walla and Paterson and we enjoyed coffee, delicious treats made from Sisters Cafe just across the street from the studio.  Shelley K Photography did an amazing job in capturing the details and our masterpieces!  Dawn will be hosting this same event December 9th which is a Saturday.  We will be hosting an event at the farm December 2nd, if there is enough interest we may need to add a second date.

Please take a moment to enjoy Shelley’s art of photography and our wreaths!

It is not all work, we had lots of time to sip on coffee and visit with our new and old friends alike!

It was not all work…..we had lots of time to sip our coffee and chat with new and old friends alike!
